GAY arrived to Split Friday, 03 September 2010 07:34 ZAGREB (CRO) - Stars of Zagreb meeting moved on Thursday southwards to Split to compete at IAAF Continental Cup. Amongst them also Tyson Gay who is scheduled to run the 4x100 m relay. Since he did not compete in the national championship of the USA, which is a requirement for selection into the Americas team he cannot run in the individual event. Gay also apologised to Nesta Carter after a collision at the Zagreb 100 m on Wednesday.
Cantwell 22.22, Gay beats Carter, home wins for Vlasic and Perkovic Wednesday, 01 September 2010 23:27 ZAGREB (CRO) - 60th jubilee Boris Hanzekovic Memorial, Zagreb 2010 IAAF World Challenge meeting was succesfully staged before sold out stadium. Stars produced expected top results. Meet record of Christian Cantwell 22.22 in shot put and another event best 9.92 by Tyson Gay in the 100 m. Also home wins for Barcelona heroes Blanka Vlasic and Sandra Perkovic (with meet record). Only the cold weather (at 10 degrees level at the end) was the problem. Otherwise excellent version of the meet, last of inaugural IAAF World Challenge circuit. One more meet record (in total four) in men´s 800 m and Koji Murofushi is the winner of first edition of IAAF Hammer Throw Challenge.
VLASIC hopes for 2 metres Wednesday, 01 September 2010 10:55 ZAGREB (CRO) - Home biggest star before IAAF World Challenge Zagreb 2010 meet Blanka Vlasic said that most important thing on Wednesday will be to win. She warned the spectators that it will be hard to think about her last years result here the 208 national record. „We will see the situation only after I will be able to clear two meters," said Vlasic. Another interesting information from Vlasic background is her boyfriend, one of the top handball players Nikola Karabatic.
ZAGREB: GAY is ready Monday, 30 August 2010 20:08 ZAGREB (CRO) - US sprint record holder Tyson Gay arrived on Sunday evening to Zagreb, Croatia. „I want to attack my personal best in Zagreb," said Gay what would mean to come close to his US record 9.69. The sprinting star will compete on Wednesday at Zagreb Meeting (IAAF World Challenge) and had the official press conference today. But he will not have it easy as Jamaican Nesta Carter who improved in Rieti to 9.78 and equalled Gay´s world lead will also be running.    
RIETI summary: RUDISHA fulfills potential with another global mark Monday, 30 August 2010 19:54 RIETI (ITA) - The jubilee 40th edition of Rieti Meeting (IAAF World Challenge) was very special. The Raul Guidobaldi Stadium registered superb 800 m world record by David Rudisha 1:41.01, the best 100 m race of the year (Carter equalled world lead 9.78 and top five went under 10), world leading 3000 m by Tariku Bekele and meet records in men´s 200 m, 110 m hurdles and women´s pole vault and hammer throw. Excellent work of 40 years and this very special edition by meet director Sandro Giovannelli applauded also by IAAF Senior Vice-President Sergey Bubka and Italian Olympic Committee boss Gianni Petrucci.
